Tyce’s Story

One of my favorite hunting memories was definitely youth turkey day when I was 12. The day started off like any other hunting day, you wake up early but then you end of falling back asleep then waking up again and rushing out the door, but before so you need to make your Jim Dean breakfast sandwich. But anyways, we all got to the blind near the food plot, where we’ve been seeing turkeys at and gotten a bunch of trail camera pictures from, we get all set up and we’re ready for the turkey to come down off the roost. Now, keep in mind, there’s 5 people in one blind , which we made ourselves, it consisted of some old tin for the roof, random pieces of wood we had laying around, carpet for insulation, and our very own pee funnel so we didn’t have to get out of the blind. So, we’re sitting there and we heard turkeys, then they started walking into the plot, but they were only hens. After a while we all started talking about random stuff and since that point we never saw or heard another turkey for 6 hours and we’re all sitting in a blind shoulder to shoulder starting to go crazy and we slowly and slowly start losing our minds as the time passes. This is always a fun moment to look back on because it reminds me of the amount of work that me and my family have put in to help the process of hunting such as, food plots, blinds, bedding areas, water holes, and much more.

Hunting has definitely taught me many valuable lessons in my life that can be applied into anything. For example, no matter how much time and effort you put in that doesn’t guarantee you anything, it just raises your chances, so even though it might get rough or difficult you always have to keep working if you want the end result to come a little easier. Another way it changed my life was when I actually realized how much I could support people with it. Like, I can feed not only my family but many other people with just one deer or pretty much any animal.
